Questions
Why cap the pixels?
A huge page at high resolution can use more memory than the process is allowed. The job stops instead of taking the server down.
Which tool renders the JPEG?
Poppler’s pdftoppm. The process runs under a CPU, memory, and file-size limit.
Will text stay selectable?
No. A JPEG does not contain the PDF text layer.
